Sacramento transit.

It's Sunday. Which means that the buses barely run. It is frustrating because I need to do errands and unlike SF mini. Public transit doesn't run on Sunday past 6pm.

Also prices have gone up and now you don't get any transfers unless you buy a day pass.

While I have a drivers license, I don't own a car and have worked around the limited transit schedule for more than 10 years. But as prices rise and services dwindle, I may be forced into buying a car. but that's a whole different rant... I mean post.

My own DSLR - Canon D60

Just realized I didn't get to share my good news -- I have my very own DSLR now -- Canon D60.  It was a good choice for me, I do mostly Fine Art Photography and am "expanding my horizons" next semester to take Commercial/Advertising Photography.

This past semester I took Studio Lighting Class at American River College in Sacramento.  I learned so much because it wasn't your run of the mill studio lighting class.  It was more of DIY lighting class.  We made were separated into various groups and got to make our own light modifiers/features like snoots, softboxes, diffusers, bokeh, ringlights, etc.  It makes you think of light in a different way.  I learned how to light a subject with items I made for $20 that if it was "professional lighting equipment" would have cost me at least $150 to $500.

Canon D60 or Canon D7?

so I was surfing the internet (shocking, I know) and saw that Canon was coming out with a D60. So excited until I saw that unlike the feel of a D50 it looks like a Rebel T2. Hrm. I like the metal body of a semi-pro camera. Why canon? why? I went to a local photo store where the camera guy suggested a D7.

Now here is my beef, It has taken me >6 months to save up for a D50 now I was looking forward to a D60 maybe $200 more. The D7 kit runs ~$1800. Twice as much as I have to spend. Why would you throw that up as a possible purchase I could afford to make? That is just mean.

So, I bought a Holga 120 -- actually it's a Holgawood in purple. I wanted the TLR one, but that will have to wait. I went around trying to take pictures but it isn't like taking pics with digital -- you only have so many exposures available and film is $$! I'm looking forward to the development process, hopefully it won't come back blank.

I have a Canon t2 SLR film and waiting (ever so patiently ) to get back the loaner my friend loaned me -- Canon D20. I hope they get back before I get assignments that are due.

Don't really need a pricey camera but would like the best that I can afford.

Fitness Funk Redeux

originally posted on my Spark People's website.

So, I did my first 5k. SPCA Doggy Dash was so much fun. I went with my BF and my two dogs. My BF sped ahead (he's 6'2") I'm 5'6". He didn't know why I was upset that he was 15 minutes ahead of me. Does anyone else understand? I mean, we're on this weight loss journey together and I was doing my first walk/run by myself.

I did get clarity though -- I realized I can't wait nor expect others to wait on me. So, I need to dig deep and find my own motivation for fitness.

I'm considering doing Zuda Yoga beginning session starting in July and doing Argentine Tango(get some toned body with that) in the Fall. So, SP gurus what do you say?

For cardio -- I'm going to the gym (he doesn't like the gym) and find my own workout zen demons ;) Downloading music as I type ::)

That's the plan, will keep you informed. TTFN

semester comes to an end...

So, I'm gathering my materials for my final photo portfolio for the semester. Is it bad that I have insomnia because I'm not sure if the picture I put in is what would represent the Bio I'm suppose to submit? ugh
